Have a friend trying to find out if a Cummins NH220 will work in his Euclid c6 dozer . Any help would be appreciated, Jim
Jim - The Euclid is a pretty simple tractor, and the Detroit and Cummins share fairly standard SAE housings and mounting arrangements .. so I can't see where it wouldn't work.
The only problems I see, is that the Cummins is bigger physically than the Detroit, having a lot more cu ins .. and it may not fit the hole all that well.
A tape measure on the hole and the Cummins is the start point.
From there .. working out engine mounting changes .. whether the flywheel housing is the correct SAE size .. and the intake, exhaust, and cooling connections and re-routing where required.
U K built C6s were all powered by Cummins engines.
I recently purchased an 82-30 with 1827 total frame hours. The guy I bought it from bought it at auction from the Washington State Fisheries Dept. It has a SU blade and 2-drum cable controller on back. All manuals along with the maintence log from new came with it.
The previous owner said he used "about 3 tankfulls
of fuel" to cut a road in to his property, then he sold it to me.
I seen the road and talked to his neighbor so that story makes sense.
Originally the color was dark green [state fisheries color] but he being a "cat man" painted it yellow before I bought it.
The orginal muffler rusted out so he ran it with a straight pipe for awhile, a short while, He told me he would wear earmuffs AND ear plugs.
He put a new muffler on it immediately.
I have owned it for 11 months and have run it about 3 hours sofar.
Anyway, I was surfing around and seen this thread, I enjoyed reading all your accounts of Terex experiences. Maybe someday I'll have some.
