Hello Guys and Gals:
I need advice, I went to Mexico this weekend and was offered an International TD20C Dozer. The undercarriage on the machine is about 95% and engine was rebuilt two (2) years ago, it appears that it is not stuck. The machine is complete except that the diesel injection pump was stolen from it. Can anyone give advice whether to buy or not to buy. He is asking $5,000.00.
Note: Can anyone give me an estimate year it was built.
TD20C manufactured from 1970-1974. Leave that one in Mexico- it was equipped with a DV-573B, one of the poorest excuses for an engine ever made.

Mario: The IH DV 550 and 573 were derivitives of International's 549 gas engine. Gas to diesel conversions seldom work out well, and these engines were no exception. IH only offered them for a short time.
Dave, Did the TD20C have a DVT800 engine in them? We have one here in Aust with a conrod out the side of the crankcase. Its a V8 Turbo powershift. Did IH ever use these motors in their trucks? Any other comments on the TD20C would be appreciated. Komatsu don't seem too interested in providing much info on them nor do the Case/IH dealers Thanks Damien
I don't remember the V800 engine ever being used in anything but a TD20E. I worked for the IH dealer from 1979 to 1981 and we never worked on one of those engines in that time frame. The TD20C used the 573 V8 engine and we did lots of work on those. I don't remember any problems with those engines that I would consider out of the ordinary for that generation. Most just wore out instead of breaking.
The 573 engines were used in many other types of equipment, especially wheel loaders.

care for those either ,but I have to object to your opinion on the DVT 573,I have worked on many & they have no unusual problems ,they start & run really well as long as they are tuned up right &
here in BC it does get cold and a good one still needs no help to go ,a lot more than can be said
for some other popular engines.They were put in
some trucks as were the later DVT 800 which was put in the TD 20E ,L 250E track loader, 550 wheel

Please let give us some more info where we can buy spare parts for V800 engine used on TD20E machines We hav big demand for these parts.
I was able to order a complete rebuild kit for a V800 out of a TD20E from Parts Supply Corp in Michigan. It was reasonably priced but has taken forever to get. Some of the parts seam like there are probably the same as a different engine. The main bearings were in new style CaseIH bags and the cam. and wrist pin bearings were from Federal Mogul. Everything for the engine is replacable, Sleeves, pistons, wrist pins, valves, valve guides and all gastkets are available and anything else I may have forgotten

I need to remove a bosch pump from a v800 and wodered if anyone has timing proceedure for setting engine to number 1 tdc
