I came across this interesting machine when surfing on the net. it has a large diesel motor to drive a generator witch powers the electric motors that rotates the tracks.
with this concept they don't have the need of a transmission.
no oil, no toil. no gears, no fears :)

upps with electric motors:
- torque curve starts from maximum, even on low revs. it's possible to go realy slow and have all the power to push!
- it doese'nt go sluggish when worn, it either works or not!

does anyone have any experience among these electric dozers?
go and chech out the specs on this site i added:

yuk!,russian dozers!. saw my first one being demonstrated on an open cast coal mine in the uk late seventies as a snotty nosed kid just out of school. the mine ran some belaz dump trucks hauling overburden, and a few 6x4's trucks ran the coal to the crusher. the operator's who tried the dozer out, reckonned that it had a delayed reaction when you wanted to steer it, it was as big as a 9G but wouldnt push as good as the cat 22A we had with the 235 horse motor .
oh! and you couldnt see out the back too good for ripping and backing up. the story with the big dozer was that the cab could be removed and a fixed gun could be fitted to turn it into a self propelled gun, i kid you not!. fast forward to today (25years later) and you can buy the same dozer, our company was offered the dealership out her in the middle east, (better off with an old 8K or a 155 than a new one of those) luckily i persuaded the company not to take them on as i reckoned they wont be the next big thing!.
