HD6G Hydraulic Pressure Hose Replacement

IBDozing Discussion Groups: Allis Chalmers (Monarch, Allis Chalmers and Fiat Allis): HD6G Hydraulic Pressure Hose Replacement

Hello,
I just blew the up hose on my right lower lift cylinder on my HD6G. Has anyone replaced this hose? Looks like a tight job. I have replaced a set of hoses on one of the upper cylinder, easy to access, easy to get replacements.

The hose I have to replace now is deep in the lift tower and hard to get to.... I am hoping I can loosen it without removing the cylinder... The previous owner had welded the main pin on the lower cylinder so removing it won't be easy....

Any hints welcome.

Regards,

OK, Here is a follow up...

First I got the hose loose from the upper attachment. That was easy.

I put my 1 1/4 wrench down the tower onto the lower hose.. Only about 5 inches to work with. Thankfully the wrench grabbed onto the hose and just moved... I probably could have loosened the hose with my hand... I then straightened the house and just spun it loose.... Off to the hydraulic store so they can make me a replacement...

Now I have the issue of my milky hydraulic fluid...... How do I drain it all out? Should I just replace all of it, or should I drain some out and let it decant and put the clear stuff back in? Looking for a cost effective solution, I only use this unit about 8 hours a year if that.... How do you get all of the fluid out? I guess I should read my service manual....
