Hi
Does anyone have the expected hydraulic pressure for an HD6 E at the steering clutches (manifold). I Suspect problems with either pump, oil or something in the oil system, brakes dont seem to work when hot, which affects steering. I,m not sure if the clutches are disengaging due to the brakes failing. Any help on this matter would be appreciated. Also, I'm after all full service manual for dozer s/n HD6 E 15923

Hi Hector
Yes I do have a small pump under the fuel pump. It appears to be three pumps , two with a common return. I put a pressure guage at the test port at the maniafold and found when I first started the machine at high idle I had 50 PSI and then 350 PSI when the steering clutch lever was pulled. After the machine was hot (10 minutes running) I lost all pressure down to 0 PSI. If the pump is worn could it be due to metal in the system from another component as there doesn’t seem to be a strainer on the return line for the steering clutch hydraulics or am I wrong. The other thing I found was that there was no fluid loss out of the large return line when I removed the pump. Should the fluid gravity feed into the pump or could there be a blockage?
If I need a pump, would you have one and how much? I think its a cast iron one.

HI You should have a strenner and should be jam and your puMp mist oil and am not a mecanic men but I dismantle many dozer and see that probleme , check the oil filter, the strenner and the break lining and for the pump take it off and open maybe she is oke or just a bad section and let me know the pump parts number. Hi Hector
Well I found the strenner and yes it was blocked with a very fine grafite like paste. my theory is that the brake liners are down to metal (the pedals are very down), which is why the steering works fine on inclines where the brakes are not needed, and also why they do not work when hot.If I had bad beval gear shaft bearings, causing the clutch seals to wear (which has been sugested), I would imagine I would hear some noise coming from the diff and the clutches would not work at all. My question is can the brake liners be re-bonded (they are wet type) or would you have some good liners for sale?

HI The first think to do is pull out the break band but you have to pull out the stering cluch first and you will see damage maybe you will need to change the break drum too and for the brak band if they are in on piece I have 1 set.HECTOR
